I am happy to report that Kindling: Book One is printed, delivered, and ready to premiere at the Small Press Expo on September 14th. If you’d like a copy, stop by our artist’s booth at island W73-75. If you don’t know what those letters and numbers mean, click here for a map! Stay tuned for details on how you can get your hands on a copy of Kindling: Book One if you can’t make it to SPX.
Launching Kindling has given me a crash course on all the social media platforms that I had previously been content to gawk at from the sidelines. You can now like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. Dea will also be posting updates to her Tumblr and DA page. Please keep the comments and suggestions coming.
In other news, Kindling will have a one page comic in DC Conspiracy’s Magic Bullet #5 “End of the World,” debuting in September 2012. This is a free paper that will be at most comic book stores in the metro DC area and available at Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD. You can learn more about it here.
Starting on June 19th, we will begin updating Kindling every Tuesday.
If you’re interested in getting a sneak peak, head on over to the Toronto Comic Arts Festival on May 5th – 6th. Kindling’s artist, dechanique, will be there with free copies of our Preview Booklet. It includes the Prologue and an introduction to Kindling’s main characters. You can get a sneak peak at the sneak peak here.
I’m happy to report that I finished the first draft of Chapter One last night. We should be on track for a spring release. Which is apt, as the title of the first chapter is The Long-Awaited Spring. I am very pleased with how it turned out.
Dechanique is currently working on concept drawings for Kindling‘s main characters. When she completes them, I will put a couple up on the website. That way you can get acquainted with our intrepid heroes before the series officially begins.
Thanks to everyone who has commented, tweeted, and emailed their support for Kindling over the past few weeks. You are all officially “into Kindling before it was cool.” And it will be cool my trend-setting friends, trust and believe.
In the world of Kindling, civilization as we know it perished in a global cataclysm that buried humanity beneath the snows of a generations-long winter. Spring has finally come. Set in the American Southwest, Kindling chronicles a group of survivors as they contend with the dangers of the new world and endeavor to rebuild.
D and I hope to begin production in January of 2012. Soon after, it will be published as a weekly webcomic. Until then, please check out the prologue for an introduction to the world of Kindling.
